loved the room, very comfortable bed, great breakfast, very quiet, beautiful area, would recommend the hotel to my friends and family, free bus to the village. loved our stay for our 21st anniversary. 🙂
Having stayed at the Coast Blackcomb about 5 years ago, I had an idea what to expect but I was a little disappointed this time around.
The good: we really like the pool and it’s great that there are also a couple bbqs available to use. If I was staying with a group of friends, I’d certainly plan to make use of the bbq area as the set up is really nice and if you’re with a group, I can see how this could make for a fun evening.
The room was spacious and having a decent size balcony was a bonus but the lighting in the bathroom was absolutely terrible.
We found the staff to be very nice – thank you to Ben on the front desk for answering our questions and then following up to ensure we’d found the places we’d asked him about.
Breakfast is a nice bonus although my recollection of breakfast last time we stayed was that it offered more variety. It was fine – but it wouldn’t be enough of a reason to entice me to come back.
Now the not so good: hotel is showing signs of wear and tear – it’s a little rough around the edges. I guess we should be glad to see signs of maintenance being done but why schedule it on the Sunday of a long weekend? It was really annoying to be sitting by the pool with pressure washers running nearby for an extended period of time. Also that day, some of the wood trim and doors near the pool access were being re-stained. It just seems really odd to me for someone to think it’s a good idea to perform maintenance like that on a weekend. Couldn’t this have waited until Monday afternoon when the hotel would have been at lower capacity (I assume) and many of the guests had checked out? The other experience worth commenting on is this: the hotel promotes itself as being environmentally friendly (ie., reuse towels, etc), which we fully support – yet one morning we left two coffee cups in the sink. We came back after housekeeping had been and were confused to hear the dishwasher running. Whomever had cleaned our room put the TWO CUPS in the dishwasher and turned it on….for just those two items rather than just washing them by hand! Had I known housekeeping would be by that early I’d have washed them myself before we left the room, especially if I’d known they were going to turn on the dishwasher for two cups. Ridiculous!
As I say, it was an ok stay but I’ll consider my options next time.
