Edgewater Lodge Whistler Review
We booked the Edgewater Resort after reading good reports about it on TripAdvisor and it was certainly a good hotel, but I do feel that there is room for improvement,
Firstly, the location is magnificent overlooking Green Lake and each of the rooms plus the restaurant has unobstructed views of the lake. The staff see very welcoming and friendly and that’s typical of ALL our experiences in Canada. The check in process was very smooth and the lady that looked after us was only too helpful in discussing the purpose of our stay and making suggestions of things that might be of interest. She also helped one of our party to book a horse riding tour. Being located near the lake, there are stunning mountains to look at on all sides of the property and the views are to die for. Stunning flora as far as the eye can see awaits you.
The rooms are best described as rustic and are certainly comfortable. The bed is a king sized bed and is really comfortable with lovely choices of pillows. It’s reasonable spacious although with two cases, we had them open on the floor as the luggage area is too small – unless you have a bag. There is ample hanging space. The thing that really annoyed me was the inadequate lighting. There are only lamps in the bedroom area and no ceiling lighting and if I was staying here longer, I’d be really frustrated by that. It’s hard to read or work in the dusk or evening.
They serve a lovely breakfast which is included in the price and in our four week holiday, this was one of the only complimentary breakfasts we had, which was much appreciated. It’s a simple, but really tasty breakfast. The homemade granola is delicious.
Edgewater is located a little way from Whistler village, which we aware of, but don’t let that put you off. It’s very serene and with views to die for and lots of walks and activities in the area. The fact that they I don’t have a lot of rooms is a plus in my opinion.
Complimentary wifi is offered and it works well.
I’d definitely stay here again for a short stay, but hope to see some minor improvements in the property. A good reasonably priced option in the area.
