Evolution is a modern condo complex at the base of Creekside in Whistler. The units were sold as quarter shares, and many owners put some of their weeks into the rental pool. So these units get lots of traffic. The units themselves are kitted out to a strange spec. For example, Miele oven and dishwasher but no-name brand coffee machine and hair dryer. You get the sense that the developers put their money into the “visible bling” but cheaped out on the rest.
Be warned that the walls and floor are paper thin. In winter there is lots of noise transfer from ski boots – strongly suggest staying on the top floor unless you’re OK being woken up at 6 am. The building’s location is convenient, but the orientation is a little weird – many rooms look out over the highway or the bus loop or the hot tub or whatever. Be sure to ask what your room looks out at. No front desk staff after hours as this property piggy-backs on the neighbouring Legends property for check-in and after hours service.
Dollar for dollar, you’re going to pay a little more to stay at First Tracks or Nita Lake Lodge but the quality of accommodations is palpably better. Nita is a bit of a walk from the Creekside gondola, but the inconvenience is more than offset by the quality of accommodations. If those options are booked up or too pricy, then Evolution is probably the best of the rest in Creekside but keep your expectations realistic
