I have stayed at this small Whistler hotel over 20 years in the centre of the Village. It used to be called the Fireplace Inn boasting hot tubs and fireplaces in every room with some lofts. They removed the hot tubs, replacing them with normal tubs and showers. You would have thought a major update was completed before the 2010 Olympics, but it was quite superficial.
This most recent stay was for one night, an anniversary. Despite putting this information in the details requested when booking online there was no mention made or anything nice done, unlike some hotels. The lack of any light in the first 200 meters of the parking garage was our first warning sign. Our newly cleaned loft bedroom with kitchenette was very hot as the blinds were left open with bright sunshine streaming in. The bathroom had dust and hair in the corners, no second roll of toilet paper and minimal light in the shower area. Some other lights were not working as well. Generally the suite appeared dirty. The message light flashed on the telephone for no reason. The staff were friendly but when asked whether the cleaning staff leaves the fireplace flues open, the desk clerk had no knowledge to share on the subject. We did notice a development application on the property and can only hope that they go all the way and do a major overhaul this time!
