Let me start off by saying that we thought ourselves spoiled travellers from the States when it came to getting out to new ski areas–after all, Aspen and Breckenridge had been our family destination for more than a decade! Our expectations, to say nothing of our past experiences, set a very high bar in that regard. That being said, the staff and experience we had at the Fairmont offered what was perhaps our most relaxed and comfortable stay in our ski travel history!
From the very start, the friendly and helpful concierge met our every demand and offered more than we needed to set us off on our adventure. The hotel is spacious, but feels intimate after a quick tour. The spa is easily accessible and many patrons clearly felt comfortable enough to walk through the lobby in their provided robes (which we took to doing not long after). The convenient equipment lockers and restaurant provisions made getting to the slopes early easy, and the staff happily directed us to apres ski hot spots. The Fairmont is located a short walk from Whistler Village, fortunately just far enough from the weekend/St. Patty’s Day festivities to allow for peaceful nights.
The only drawback we noted was the daily parking fee, which was something we just hadn’t been used to in the States (though I realize it’s sense and purpose in other places). We took to parking in a nearby lot, as we didn’t need to access our car regularly for ease of access to every amenity you could imagine!
Overall an incredible experience that will keep us coming back!
