Le Chamois

We booked a 3 night stay as part of a larger trip around beautiful British Columbia and really enjoyed Le Chamoix. Had only been to Whistler for skiing and this was a perfect location for us during the summer.

Check in was a breeze and all of the staff we encountered were really friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and well appointed but some things a bit dated and rough around the edges. We got an excellent deal on the room so it wasn’t a big deal and we definitely felt it was good value.

The room lots of space and was arranged to almost feel more like one bedroom than a studio. The super comfortable bed was off behind the living room area and connected with a hallway so it was very separate. There was hot tub and a small kitchenette had a small fridge and all the things we needed for a quick breakfast. There were wine glasses and beer mugs for late night cocktails as well. There’s no daily housekeeping but the room was clean and they provided more than enough towels and toiletries to cover us during the stay.

The pool and fitness room is located right across the hall. There’s quite a bit of traffic but didn’t hear them when we were in the room. The pool is one the small side and you could scope it out to see how busy things were. One one trip to the the pool there were about a dozen kids screaming at the top of their lungs, so we decided to wait it out a bit. I’m all for kids having a good time but it was an easy adjustment to make so we could relax a bit and unwind in the pool. Went back a half an hour later and had the place to ourselves. Again, we definitely couldn’t hear any of the pool chaos in our room, only in the hallway so wasn’t an issue at all.

The wifi and tv were excellent. The room had it’s own router so there were never any issues there. We’d brought some DVDs with us as there is a player provided. Unfortunately on the last night the player stopped reading any DVDs including those we’d watched the night before. It was one of those old gigantic, silver players from the late 90s/early 2000s so it was a bit past it’s prime. Reported it at check out and wasn’t really a big deal. We certainly didn’t come here to watch DVDs.

We usually stay in the main village but really found the upper village to be a nice break. There was a farmer’s market on Sunday outside the hotel and there were tons of local food offerings that were perfect for lunch. The Lost Lake hiking trail begins right across the street from the lobby so that was really convenient. Also, the main village is just a ten minute walk away.

They could use some refurbishments but it’s still an excellent value and location. Would definitely stay here again.
