Stayed the night at the Listel on a Friday in October. As one of Whistler’s original hotels, you’d expect it to be a little tired, and it is. But the service is prompt and friendly; the room and linens clean. No major complaints.
So how does the hotel show its age? It’s the little things. We were on the third floor. The hall carpets are lumpy from years of luggage carts leaving the elevator. The rooms are tight. You end up leaving your suitcase on the floor rather than on a luggage holder. The bathroom fan is really loud.
The prints on the wall are very uninspired. The Whistler tourist magazines in the room were not fresh — they felt beat up.
Never looked in at the free continental breakfast, so can’t speak to that.
Parking at the Listel is $20 per night. We chose to stay at the nearby Convention Centre underground lot. That is $10 for 24 hours.
So for a budget hotel, no deal breakers, but I would not stay for a repeat visit. Spend another $30 and so to a higher star level.
